Travelling Butler - Monaco & Europe

Our international client is looking for a butler. The clients are hard-working themselves, very astute and require a candidate who will bring high standards of service to their home. None of their homes are run formally, but the client would like to hire someone who has the ability to step-up a notch when required, to lay and serve at lunch or dinner parties, or serve drinks and canapés in a refined manner.

The butler must always be well-presented, take pride in his or her work, appearance and personal hygiene. A shy, timid character or someone who hesitates would not work in this household, but neither would someone brash or loud! The right character will be someone who has quiet confidence in their own abilities and can use their initiative, while also showing a willingness to learn new things and/or to take direction from the Principals or the House Manager.

The Butler will assist the House Manager in caring for The Principals while ensuring the continual smooth-running of their homes.

Lengthy experience in a similar role is not necessary, as full on-the-job training can be given, but candidates must present an innate desire to excel in every aspect of their work and must exhibit a meticulous eye for detail and a willingness to learn from others while conforming to The Principal’s standards and requirements.

Candidates will be able to take control of situations, show they are highly organized and able to be pro-active when necessary. They will also have a natural ability to get on with, and work well with others.

This is an excellent role for someone who is ambitious and willing to learn; promotion to House Manager is a definite possibility for the right candidate. Candidates must be looking for a role that will be very busy and diverse, and must be willing to “muck-in” and have a drive to get things right. A passion for food and wine will assist in nurturing a good relationship with the Principals.

The role is based from a property in the South of France, while candidates must be willing and able to travel for several weeks at a time on a regular basis within Europe and occasionally internationally. Accommodation is always provided s/contained.

Roles and Responsibilities: Wardrobe Management / Laundry/Pressing / Packing/Unpacking / Some ability in the Kitchen - enthusiastic about food & quality ingredients / Light Meal Preparation / Serving refreshments/drinks / Formal Table Service & Setting / General household duties / Managing smart home systems, including alarm systems etc. / Must be technologically savvy, past experience using similar systems is important / Travelling ahead/behind, to setup/close down the residence / Travelling with client / Running errands & Chauffeuring - must have clean EU driving license and be confident driving luxury vehicles in both the UK (central London) & Europe / Caring for valuable possessions such as antiques, silverware, china, wine cellar… Training can be given, so the most important is for an innate eye for detail combined with a willingness to learn / General administrative tasks - must be computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office programs and Mac hardware and software.

Salary is negotiable for an exceptional candidate, around £30,000 gross pa. English language with some French useful, non smoker and Willing to undertake DBS, and hold a European passport or work permit. Start ASAP. Email your resume to
